Who said he was Hakeem? What does him kicking Jokic ass have to do with anything? It seems people don't understand what skills are.
Even offensively there is no comparison. Hakeem conquered Kareem, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Shaq, Rodman. Michael Jordan feared Hakeem Olajuwon. Jokic wouldn't have been able to score a lick around the basket against them. He would have fouled out within minutes in the 90's.
Are you implying that the dream shake wasn't a unique skill? Aren't shot blocking, steals and rebounding skills?
Yet for all his skill, he still hasn't willed his team to a championship. I think Hakeem's shoulders are much broader.
I agree, Olajuwon would average 36 points vs the competition of today. Make Embiid and Jokic look like nothing.
I am not implying ****, I said everything I meant. Did you miss the part where I said footwork is a skill? You did miss the part where I definitely said shot blocking was a skill and rebounding is more about effort than skill, but Jokic still does it at a high level so what is your point?
This is just BS, Jokic could do what he does in any era and would have fouled out a lot of those guys. Since when is Rodman a big man anyway?
Offensively true because Hakeem wasn’t able to stretch the floor with the three ball (different era and he didn’t need to). Regardless Hakeem would dominate to no end in this era and would be in GOAT conversation
I don't think it's controversial to think that Jokic's offensive capacity way outstrips that of Hakeem - it just is true by any conceivable measure.
Obviously, on this website, you're going to get absolutely crapped on for mentioning Jokic in the same sentence as Hakeem. Especially given the latter's full body of work, compared to Jokic not even being 27 yet. But from an unbiased perspective, how good is age 26 Jokic compared to age 26 Hakeem? Because statistically, age 26 Jokic > age 26 Hakeem.
In a basketball sense of course. The only things that Jokic does better than Dream is pass and shoot 3's. Dream has a better Hook shot, a better cross-over, a better pick and pop mid range jumper and a better post game. Not mention Dream is one of the top 3 defensive bigs of all time. He had tremendous defensive skills. Dream mastered the defensive skill of blocking shots, he was excellent in the passing lanes, and he was totally switchable. He gave guards hell. So how is Jokic more skilled?
Obviously, Jokic isn't on Hakeem's level of defense by any means, but let's not pretend like Jokic is a negative on defense. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba...not-a-bad-defender/1hsm3nijgbgnw1lr8c22k38clw Obviously people will have biases and be subjective, and through everything, Hakeem is probably a better basketball player at 26 than Jokic at 26. But Jokic is pretty damn good.
This is silly. Here's the test when comparing any big to Dream: There are two minutes left in a close game and the other big's team is going against Dream's. Is there any doubt that the other big's team will send a double team at Dream? Is there any doubt that the Dream team would not send a double team against the other big? Dream would score on Jokic and shut him down when it mattered. Jokic couldn't guard Dream (the apparently lesser offensive player). Dream could guard Jokic. Fini.
I can give that Jokic is a better shooter and better passer. But that's it. Everything else Olajuwon was better. Seems like a silly comparison to make anyway.
Pretty dumb. Just hyperbole article grasping at straws. Make a controversial take find evidence no matter how small then blow it up to support the claim you’re making. Boom !! clickbait article
This was not your argument though. You said 26 yo Jokic was statistically better than 26 yo Dream. This is only true if you ignore defense.
