I do unironically have a feeling we will break out today. Now if the Braves also break out? I don't know. My gut is more worried about Framber today than our offense. I also do have a fear that Dusty will try to do some dumb cute stuff like say if Framber does well, he will put in like Jake for an inning or two. Jake has been solid, but it is playing with fire.
If Bregman starts at 3rd hitting 3rd, Dusty cannot say he doesn't know what he's going to get out of him. Bregman doesn't even act like the same 2017 Bregman.
My expectations are if we lose today, it's going to be because the Braves have a big offensive night too. I think we do finally wake up with at least 4-5 runs, but Braves might also do same thing. Gurriel and Tucker were just getting some loud hard hit outs yesterday. Altuve finally might be back also. The only big question marks are Bregman and Correa. Also we do need regular Yordan this game. He's drawing a ton of walks so it might be unfair to put too much pressure on him. But it's simply because I have more faith in him stepping up.
Hit hard right into our gloves.. finished that for you positive vibes only. Cmon stros.. make it to game 6 and I’ll take my lucky baby girl to the game. Giving us a chance to get to game 7 where magic can happen
I don’t think the order is the real issue as much as several guys (including Correa) by just not hitting. Maybe start Diaz over Bregman at this point? Dusty doesn’t like to bunch the left handed hitters and that’s not a terrible idea, but it limits options in the NL. You could swap Bregman and Yuli, but you’d be basically giving up 7-8-9 and have no protection for Tucker. Maybe that’s for the best right now.
If Bregman just drew walks like he normally does, I have no issue with him at 3rd then. If it was simply missing strikes in the zone due to being off while still having a his normal plate approach, that would be great boon. But he's not even doing both
Right now, everything from his swing, to his walk up to the plate, to his facial expression, to his body language after he strikes out/pops up/grounds out screams zero confidence. He doesn't even look like he wants to be here in this moment. Something is wrong with him (maybe both mentally and physically), and it almost seems cruel to continue to put him up there at the 3 spot. He needs to be dropped to 7th. I'd even go a step further and drop Correa to 6th. We need Yuli and Tucker batting in the top 5 if we want to take advantage of any positive momentum we might build offensively.
If he just had his normal swagger, I would expect him to break out. It's a shame too because he has done very well vs lefties this year. Correa I have no idea what to expect.
You know, I wasn't feeling it after the loss last night and felt it was over. But my son reminded me "Didn't we just win 3 in a row last series and last year?". Gotta love that optimism! I will not doubt this team again, win or lose. Go Stros!
I have a cat named Jack. Sometimes I call him Super Jack. Honestly I would rather have Super Jack Mayfield starting at 3rd tonight.
Brantley and Tucker are the only two hitting right now. Altuve and Yuli are just above .200. Everyone else is below .200. That’s after getting 8 hits yesterday. There is no magic batting order to solve that other than guys start hitting.
Astros have won 3 games in a row in the same series against Boston in this year's ALCS, TB last year, the Nationals and Yankees in 2019, and Indians in 2018.
