My worst fear is Jalen Green turning into J.R. Smith 2.0

I mean even in NBA draft terms, JR Smith is not worst case scenario. He’s had a long career, and has been an important player on some good teams.

Why worry about JR when there have been recent notable 2nd pick busts like Jabari Parker, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Derrick Williams, Evan Turner, Hasheem Thabeet, etc.

Him being a jr smith clone is a valid concern.

his tattoos and setting a lot of personal goals is not.

I have a lot of ink on my skin Iv never been to prison and I live a very comfortable life and Iv set a lot of big personal goals since 18 years of age.

    I don’t buy that logic.

He can just as easily be Vince Carter. Can't we let the kid play before doing this?

My first look tells me he is more together than JR and such a comparison is early as hell and unwarranted. A lot of players have tats.

That said I just want him to have the right conditions to develop.

I think he's in the right environment. Also, there's never been any indication that Green is anything but a good kid. The knock on Smith was that he was lazy. The talent was there. Green wants to be great and works his ass off

I like the confidence! I was impressed with the little we were able to see of him this summer. I get that the kid is young and he is gonna act like a kid sometimes. Maybe all those things you are saying about him are true. I sure hope we wouldn't draft a kid number 2 if they weren't true.

I am in his camp and on his side 100%.

but some of his ig stuff raised my eyebrows a bit, that's all.

This isn't a political issue. The guy is just looking for attention. Don't give it to him.

Why are we judging a 19 year old kid that is just about to start his career. Beside I feel comfortable with Silas and John Lucas there to guide all these young players, similar like they are doing with KPJ

What's your assessment of Luka Doncic? His tattoos are far more noticeable than Jalen Green's.

The white skin makes it look less thuggish:eek:

You aren't a thug if you have tattoos and you are white or a cop/veteran(like 90% of guys I was in with in the Marine Corps were tatted up but never were accused of being thugs). You are a thug if you have tattoos but are a person of color from a poor socioeconomic background. Those are the rules.

    Sht take by op.
U should judge a player by their stats and how he performed b4 getting draft.
The amount of tattoos doesn't correlated to anything when it comes to bb skills.
