I don’t like how the media is over simplifying things and trying to make stories but I get they need to get paid. It’s very complex , it’s race, age, sex, medical history, and which vaccine you get (very important). We’re not all the same, dna and medical wise. A friend told me there was a group of healthy dudes partying in Scottsdale who were of all races. They all got Covid. But the healthy young Black person got the worst symptoms and had to take some steroids. The others had mild symptoms. I know people who take monthly antibodies tests to see if they have high enough levels . Some people have actually taken extra shots because their counts were low.
After moving from the US, I can assure that covid can be mitigated. It requires a higher vaccination rate and some basic procedure like wearing masks but its absolutely doable. Here in Ontario, we're now at 85% of people with one shot and 77% with two shots. Combined with mandatory masks and social distancing, cases and deaths are a tiny fraction of comparable states in the US. It sounds stupid but it really is as simple as getting vaccinated, wearing masks and socially distancing. Schools are open here (with mask mandates and distancing requirements) and a vaccine passport law is coming into effect soon (which not surprisingly resulted in a surge of vaccinations). Its not too much of a sacrifice to do these sorts of things. There really is no special magic here. People get vaccinated, wear masks and move on with life. That's all you have to do.
