Biden Deserves Credit, Not Blame, For His Political Courage On Afghanistan America’s longest war has been by any measure a costly failure, and the errors in managing the conflict deserve scrutiny in the years to come. But Joe Biden doesn’t “own” the mayhem on the ground right now. What we’re seeing is the culmination of 20 years of bad decisions by U.S. political and military leaders. If anything, Americans should feel proud of what the U.S. government and military have accomplished in these past two weeks. President Biden deserves credit, not blame. Unlike his three immediate predecessors in the Oval Office, all of whom also came to see the futility of the Afghan operation, Biden alone had the political courage to fully end America’s involvement. Although Donald Trump made a plan to end the war, he set a departure date that fell after the end of his first term and created conditions that made the situation Biden inherited more precarious. And despite significant pressure and obstacles, such as the delay caused by Trump and his adviser Stephen Miller’s active obstruction of special visas for Afghans who helped us, Biden has overseen a military and government that have managed, since the announcement of America’s withdrawal, one of the most extraordinary logistical feats in their recent history. By the time the last American plane lifts off from Hamid Karzai International Airport on August 31, the total number of Americans and Afghan allies extricated from the country may exceed 120,000. https://www.theatlantic.com/
Most of these people will acclimate into their new countries very nicely. Having your country run by the Taliban would suck.
Got almost everyone out - some decided to stay on their own accord.....can't make them leave. Job well done...... Hopefully they put tracking chips on all that hardware....they left. DD
Lol. You can't be serious. There's a lot of blame to go around around and it doesn't fall completely on him but you're obviously a shill
I don’t think he really deserves credit but also don’t think he really deserves all the blame for the withdrawal. Im glad he went through with it and I’m glad he didn’t extend it. I think it is clear the Afghan government and army was always a mirage.
everything I've read since July indicates Biden wanted out by 9/11 so that the U.S. could celebrate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 by being Afghanistan-free (and in turn by refocusing attention on his domestic agenda). He has accomplished that, certainly, but in doing so he risked having the Taliban celebrating 9/11 now as their own symbolic holiday of independence.
Biden swiftly ended a worst war in the faces of millions of warmongers and screaming Trumpers. He deserves next 20 Nobel Peace Prize. A true American.
In what f*cking world do you live where you actually think anyone would actively choose to stay in Afghanistan? Unbelievable. As if your constant wrong takes in the basketball realm weren't proof enough. You are an utter clown.
They must be thinking about the freedom and democracy. US army will give them neither, in or out Afghan., in or out USA. A sad delusion cost lives.
