This is really tough, because there are some TRULY GREAT players that have dawned a Rockets uniform. So even though there were greater Rockets and certainly better role players, the best all time greats that I can think of are... Honorable mention: - Rudy Tomjanovich - one of my all-time fav Roxs for what he did as a player and coach - Rick Barry - past his prime here, but a true all timer - Dwight Howard - played well - Ralph Sampson - potentially an all time great who's body failed him Starting Five: - Akeem Olajuwon - the greatest, not even close - Elvin Hayes - we should have never traded him, classic 70-80s big. - Moses Malone - ultimate rebounder, excelled as a work horse--RIP - Clyde Drexler - oh, if we had only drafted hi vs McCray - James Harden - should have won 3-4 MVPs, was a dominate PG Bench: - Yao Ming - unique big from non-bball country - Calvin Murphy - Immortal Rocket - Charles Barkley - In retrospect I wish we hadn't made the trade, but we did - Tracy McGrady - if only he an Yao could have stayed healthy, what could've been
Best first round hustle team ever. Throw in a half busted Tmac and they take any Boston team to seven games. Slow Clap
When I hear "rotation" I think best combination and not really best players. Paul / Lowry Harden / Drexler Battier / Ariza Horry / Sampson Olajuwon / Malone
Fair point. It is all in fun. I guess it's all about who this 9-man rotation has to play. If they are going to LA. They would face a team that would be something like Magic Byron Scott Kobe Jerry West Worthy Lebron A. Davis Shaq Kareem With that kind of size, Yao might be helpful. Malone has a complete game, I'm not sure that he brings anything that Dream can't already provide. Plus, I'd love to see Yao contest the skyhook.
Absolutely, all in fun....and as always, match ups count for a lot... That said, I'd want Mad Max against the Lakers.
Ralph was born for today’s NBA. Ralph was superb except he wanted to be a 3. His head was 2+ decades a’head’, or 2++ decades behind.
Ralph was a beast down low, but his versatility led to him playing away from the bucket after we drafted Dream, and, I believe caused his injuries,
Yao was a terrific basketball player. Yao was a better human. In many regards Yao Ming was my fav Rox ever. And that diminishes not one iota Dream nor Rudy T.
