I want to see Jalen Green run crisper Pick-n-Roll by utilizing the screens: 1) Allow the screener time to get set. Green was going as the screener was moving into position most of the time. 2) Come around that screen tighter. This goes hand in hand with point #1, so Green can leave his defender on the screen. Screener can get away with moving screen better (a la the Warriors). Screener can then get away with a little push off to get separation to set up a lob dunk dive to the basket or window to receive the pass from Green. Works better for receiving the pass as well if the big man (opposing C/PF) hedges the edge and doesn't sag back (Green steps back with his dribble) *for the most part Green needs to get into the habit of hugging that screener tighter as he comes around. That Sengun pass between the opponents legs would have been an easy dunk or layup if Green turned the corner cleaner and closed the gap between screener and himself. But that's what Summer League is good for....practice things that will be important during the season. In the NBA these things will matter more. It was a good sign though that Green scored 23 pts even without running the PnR sharper and while being guarded by a good defender in Okoro.
I can’t believe how excited I am to watch a meaningless summer league game. I know none of these games really matter but I LOVE our squad and I can’t wait to see Cade and Green match up! Hope we blow ‘em out
Feels good to actually be excited about basketball again. Feels like we broke up, realized she was the one and we got back together. I love this game.
