BTW, @Williamson, did you see that your boy Harty got his first start of the season last night and played 26 minutes? 14 boards and 7 assists. Not too shabby for someone new to his team.
I'm sure both sides tested the market for Simmons before the trade. If Simmons was really worth all that much, there would have been a 3rd team involved. But there wasn't. Simmons simply isn't worth as much as his name suggests because he is an unorthodox all star in this era of basketball that heavily relies on shooting.
First, who gives a **** what Bill Simmons thinks. Second, it all depends on what the Rockets ACTUALLY do.... if they actually rebuild through the draft, then the Nets deal is better. If they are cowards and deal the Nets picks for existing players, then they should have taken the Sixers deal. Stone yesterday said it isn't a rebuild, but since Tilman has taken over all that has happened is the front office has lied to the fans habitually, so who knows. If the Rockets get to keep their #1 this year, then the Nets deal was by far better.
it really is keep our pick this year or bust for me...keeping our pick this year and drafting Cade, Green, or Mobley is the main reason I can live with the Nets trade...it’s the main prize for trading Harden...the Nets picks are just ancillary pieces to me
You may be right. It's crazy because he's so unlike anything we've ever really seen before. A 6'10 240 lb. All Team defense point guard - but he can't shoot. Wild.
Imagine wanting a collection of mediocre picks that are more likely than not to be outside of the lottery over a 24 year old DPOY. The height of delusion.
No interest in Simmons except to flip him. Not being able or willing to shoot is a death sentence, sends the whole team back a generation. If we're rebuilding let's do it properly with a 5-out lineup. Why create an obstacle for yourself from the start? He's a great player, it would just take a probably unobtainable amount of additional talent to win a title with him. He's a better Draymond green. It's easier to hide a poor defender than it is to deal with spacing issues eternally.
Tillman is who he is - a business man who only cares about the bottom line. I get that he is not ideal, then don't sign a contract with him in the first place. DD
It seems that Stone likes Kelly more than LaVert and likes Bradley more than Allen. it’s about future.
The problem with Simmons is he has a huge contract and he's a good, not great player.... The contract limits some of of the trade value because you have to match contracts in most cases... hard to do for some teams...
The world is going to end. I actually agree with Bill Shithead Simmons on this. Just threw up in my mouth typing this.
