So a team with limited draft capital this year just releases one of it most valuable assets? For a show of class? What a joke!!! This franchise doesn't know what the hell it's doing. WOW!
It's gonnabe weird seeing JJ playing in a different uniform. Must be how when Ravens fans saw Ed Reed in a Texans uniform.
If I told you before the Easterby stories and the Watson trade request that JJ was going to get released this offseason, this board would have largely said "duh." After those stories? Turn the drama up to a 10.
How do you know that? The franchise just got a total reboot. They've won a lot of division titles in the past and have been "contenders", but you can't rest on your laurels. It is common knowledge that we are a dumpster fire right now. What happens in the future remains totally unseen.
End of an Era. Sad that this team was a few moves away a year ago to this. The dismantling of this franchise by Jack Easterby will be talked about for decades.
They should have at least TRIED to trade him. Even if you get late round picks, it beats getting NOTHING.
At least I'll have a team to root for once he signs somewhere. I'm assuming the Texans end up terrible again.
I can’t believe it. I’ve never quit on a team in my life no matter what. I will no longer be a fan of this team until Easterby is out and possibly Cal not running the show. They are literally burning it to the ground.
The biggest problem with this franchise and fanbase is that Bill Obrien convinced people we were better than we were with Deshaun's help. Watson was so stupid good on broken plays that he helped the team eek out winning records in super close games and made a bad team look good.
All of this is 100% accurate and I agree. But this is likely where they were headed with Watt, regardless of all the other clown show shenanigans. I truly believe the Texans *had* a path to a 9+ win bounce-back season. But no premium picks, limited cap - even with a happy Watson, they likely don't challenge for a top 2 seed, making any Super Bowl run more difficult and Watt wanted to get to a better situation.
His contract for next season was not guaranteed, and he was ass last season. No team would trade for that contract with his injury history and his current lack of production, a release was the only outcome
If the Texans bring in a man-beauty like Trevor Lawrence, all will be quickly forgiven by the ladies. Spoiler
