Maybe this is not exactly the trade, but is the idea. I see Tucker to Denver more likely in this trade scenario.
I say no. PJ and Harris are a wash (2 non-star starters), so we'd be trading a superstar and get a kinda-star and a maybe-star in return? There would have to be 3-4 FRPs to make this attractive enough to even consider.
Why not take the Philly package (Simmons Thybulle Maxey plus picks), and flip Simmons for ?MPJ (for example?)
We'd be trading a disgruntled superstar who doesn't want to be here. We're not going to get fair market value for him. I doubt we'd get 3+ FRP's for him, and even if we did get one or two, they wouldn't be lottery picks.
To be fair, when does a superstar ever get traded if not when he’s disgruntled and doesn’t want to be on the team anymore? All historical comps of trade packages including a superstar assumes they’re disgruntled and don’t want to be on their team anymore.
Return calls from GS and Celtics. According to rumors: GS offer Wiggins, Wiseman and 2021 Wolves pick - nbc sports Celtics offer Brown, Smart and 3 first round picks. - hoopshabit rumors 76ers don’t have enough assets to offer. Their picks have little value. Wiggins look good for now and have more potential than Simmons.
I doubt that Boston package is real, but who knows. Smart is a great vet, but I'd rather have 2 of their current FRP young players and Time Lord.
I don’t think that is possible. Rockets asking price is 1 Proven young star - example would be Replacement all star Booker age 23 2 Massive package of first round picks - example would be 5 Firsts Paul George traded for 2 starters and 5 first round picks Holiday traded for 2 starters and like 5 first round picks
If James maintains his desire to leave, I like the idea that has been floated if sending him to Philly for simmons and then flipping simmons. I am currently looking at atlanta as a destination for summons. I think this deal gets everybody a fair return and makes everyone better either short term or long term. https://tradenba.com/trades/kyjkG43AE
Agreed. But a package with a guy like Smart is at least in theory pretty fungible - he’s probably flippable to any number other teams if there are young players you like. In contrast, the Miami proposals with Iggy and Olynk never made sense to me - those guys would have far more limited 3rd party markets and are pure salary filler for a team in a rebuild. I still want to see this team play out. This system plus talent is the first time I think Harden doesn’t have to carry the load night in and night out, and can choose spots to just take over.
yeah I don’t know what’s wrong with some people. Wiggins has one decent game against the hapless Pistons and you forget how horrible he’s been. I really hope no one takes Wiggins if GSW hands. Maybe with Klay and Dray he fills a decent role. He still is awful defensively, inefficient offensively and super overpaid. no return packages for Harden are good but the Boston one clearly is the best at this point. Brown is the least flawed young player even if his ceiling isn’t the highest.
