I was thinking the same thing. I really don’t care to hear all this, just talk directly to your teammates. Also, JJ is not the same player he once was. He is maybe part of the problem. He is giving effort, but he’s not making the plays he once did. He looks kinda old and slow out there. Probably not fair to compare the current JJ to the JJ when he was at his peak. But, that’s how it goes in sports.

As little help as Deshaun has, JJ has less.
He’s still at an 83 on PFF which is a pro bowl type level.
Him and Deshaun are the only two that have any room to talk about accountability on this team.

And if JJ is saying something like this in the media, pretty much guaranteed something has been said in locker room.

So why say it to the media?

    What does that serve?

Now the media is gonna start trying to find out who he was talking about and further divide the team.

Who does saying this to media benefit?

That’s probably true, I don’t know if it benefits anyone. If it forces change at the top I’m all for it though.
I’m still not sure he was talking about anyone specific as much as taking offense to the question. More rhetorical speech than anything

Don't see how it forces any real changes up top but ok.

JJ and Deshaun are the only two in this organization as players to be able to speak up and be heard, by the people that matter.
Might be the only way Cal realizes that preacher boy ain’t it.

While watching him on Sunday, the Bengals were running away from him on every run play and double teaming him on every pass play. Why would you not do that? Who else on the D line do you need to worry about?

I think the reason he did this in the media and not the locker room is because he knows the locker room won't listen. He wasn't calling out 1 or 2 specific players, it was the overall culture, which he is clearly tired of. And this was his last resort. What good would a locker room speech do in Week 16? Most of these players checked out weeks ago.

So what good does saying this to the media in Week 16 do?

If this is effective why not say it sooner?

He is frustrated after a game. In retrospect, he may not do it but at this point what does it hurt? Their play is laughable at this point so at least he is trying to seem engaged. I don't even react when they fumble on the last drive anymore.

How anybody can see that from JJ ****ing Watt and think, "Man, that's just a guy looking for attention" is beyond me. This dude has dedicated his entire damn career to this shitty ass franchise, and he's fed up with Cal and Janice's Aw Shucks Tour of Shame. He wants to win more than anything else, and he sees his opportunities dwindling by the year. Yeah, maybe he didn't have to go to the media, but you know what?? Maybe he did, because that's the only way that dumb**** Cal will take any of this seriously.

Lol if produced half as much as Harden already has this year we wouldn't be 4-11. James Harden could fly in from Vegas after pulling an all night bender and drop 40 points.
