so much this. Everything else in our household has come to a stop. We are finally hearing the Word of... your dick.
It's yo boy, @IBTL. He's baaaaack. "Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church got $4.4 million in federal PPP Loans" https://www.houstonchronicle.com/ne...en-s-Lakewood-Church-got-4-4M-in-15800887.php
Why the **** does he need PPP money? I can't think of any logical reason and it should definitely be clawed back.
20Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. 21Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. 22Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, 23who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent. 24Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Oooof. Not a good look Joel. Somehow his followers still flock to him like a moth to an open flame. Idiots.
Because it was 'free' money from the government (if forgiven). If not, an interest free loan. Win/win.
Osteen does some questionable stuff, but I can't get too mad at this one. If your organization qualifies for it, it's your prerogative if you want to apply for it. Apparently the funds were used to pay the 300+ staff salaries while the church was shut down. The loan is not forgivable it is not used for specific payroll related purposes, otherwise it must be paid back. For comparison, the Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston got close to $4 million in PPP funds (between the offices, churches, and schools).
I'm sure moving the money around is a pretty easy shell game. Anything associated with Trump is tainted and corrupt. You use those funds for payroll, meanwhile, the other funds you originally used go to church supercars.
They need to be taxed accordingly then. It's not fair for business (yes, I do consider most churches businesses) to make money tax free and then reap the benefits of government help. It's a load of horseshit. It's great that he was paying his employees, but I would think the church can figure out a way to get that much without taking from the tax payers. Why not apply for a loan instead? This is some bullshit.
I feel bad for the people who need it the most in this unemployment crisis, but I feel worse for the idiots that pack these mega churches that donate their 10% and fail to see the game being played on them. I need to open a church.
