    Granted I have no particular inside knowledge, but that's not been my understanding of the insurance policies on contracts. A career-ending injury is not the only thing that can be covered. My understanding is that teams can insure against a pitcher losing an entire season to Tommy John or something similar.

    It seems like it would be like any other insurance, pay a higher premium and the policy will cover more stuff.
