    Because it would be Patrick's hire.

    @D-rock

    Really like those two moves. Since you lost out on Nate, the JB move is solid and Shane would be a great hire PBO.

    Shane played the game, is intelligent, and is a great ambassador for the NBA at larger let alone if he were to come back to the Rockets!

    I'm sure Clyde loves the Rockets too. Clyde had leadership skills on the court, and I don't think he would be a pushover, but I think Hakeem will definitely speak what's on his mind very clearly, even if he disagrees with ownership and management. I don't think he or Clyde would be disrespectful by any means.

    Addendum:
    I feel Calvin should have moved from the commentary booth into an advisory role with some authority years ago. He knows what it takes to become a champion. Calvin is soooooooooo underrated.

    Love Shane, i wanted him on the coaching staff for years, but especially now that Morey is gone i doubt he would walk that door.

    Shane Battier is really good at writing public speeches. The Fertitta family should hire him.

    Cal is a champion?

    OUR Calvin Murphy?

    Only championship that I know of tha Cal won was in baton twirling.

    And that was in 8th grade.

    Calvin was a big part of why we made it to the 81 NBA Finals. He is a HOF. He has always pointed out Houston’s weaknesses even during the successful back to back championship runs. That takes guts. An advisory role for him would have helped the team. It’s a different era now, but can Stone convince the ownership to make positive changes if the opportunity presents itself?

    Yes, Murphy had a few good playoff games but he and Rudy were already past their prime. Calvin, Rudy and Billy Paultz were a decade older than Moses, Robert Reid, Alan Leavell, Mike Dunleavy.

    Heck, Paultz even averaged more minutes and more points than Calvin in the 81 finals. I only recall the one game that Calvin impacted, the game that Moses was sick.

    Rockets were carried by Moses Malone and Moses should have been the first Finals MVP from a losing team. Cedric Maxwell got it because he averaged a few more points than 2nd year Larry Bird.

    But Moses AVERAGED 22 and 15 while Maxwell only averaged 17 and 9, barely edging out a young Robert Parish and even younger Larry Bird.

    I'm on board, but like people are saying, I kind of like Miami if I'm Shane Battier.

    Spoelstra, Pat Riley ... They're just a better-run organization to me.
