The Republican Party is MONEY. They supported Trump to get tax cuts, they used stacking the courts to exploit evangelicals. They will find a new voice and pump in the cash. Because for them, it's an investment in future profits,
2022 is looking favorable for Democrats, but never underestimate their ability to **** it up. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_United_States_Senate_elections If they take the Senate there's still a big chance they lose the house.
yup and if fox can recalibrate, let rush die (literally) put the mute button on hannity gingrich and lavin then maybe i am one of those "mainstream republicans" @bobrek knows too..this has been a hijacking since gingrich and rush in 90s. they have done so much damage and trump was the final blow
No, the Rupert Murdoch’s, and Koch’s, and other rich folks that have too much to lose,in their own minds, about a dominant Left, will never let it happen. They’d figure out how to silence Trump, give him a nice send-off, and move on.
LOL did you read the story? His trunk was full of mail he failed to timely deliver, which included.... three mail in ballots... That isn’t proof of anything. Three ballots? Have fun with your conspiracy theories
yeah this is an interesting crossroads for the gop... if trump goes full nutter its going to be awkward for them to go down that road. im on fox now hard last few days and you can see the message shift..i would have thought they might cut bait more but to your point still holding on to him.
You know, it's too soon to predict the demise of the GOP because of Trump. Prior to Trump, the GOP had 8 years of Obama. They threw McCain at him. They threw Romney at him and lost. Then during the Republican primaries, there were people like Mojoman and thumbs trying to rally support behind people like Cruz and Carson. There was just very little enthusiasm from the conservative base for these politicians. Trump, a man with no political experience, beat all these GOP candidates that were supposed to be the future of the conservative party movement and there just wasn't enthusiasm until Trump came. Even when you hear rhetoric that sounds like Trump that comes from Cruz, it doesn't have the same impact. We can talk about how Trump is the demise of the Republican party, but the truth is, they were really floundering to scrounge up a Presidential candidate that got their based excited until he came along. I think that's partially why there was apathy over voting for Hillary in 2016. It was just kind of assumed she would win since Republicans elected a reality star for President in their own primaries. Who would lose to that, right? Even then in 2016, Trump still lost the popular vote by 3 million people, so with an excited conservative base, he still needed to the electoral college to win. Just like he's counting on in 2020 despite the fact there's enough votes in swing states for Dems this time. Any number of things can happen in the future that can pivot either party with momentum going forward. I'd rather be in the Democrats shoes at this point in time, but I remember a lot of concern among conservatives from 2008 to 2016 that were struggling to realize a unified identity and platform that could surge the conservative party. And then Trump came and was the surge the came out of nowhere to get them the Presidency. Maybe Trump still rallies for conservatives post-Presidency and keeps their momentum going strong in 2022 and 2024. Maybe he feels betrayed by the Republicans and does his own version of the Lincoln Project where he causes at least a portion of conservative voters to not vote for the politicians that didn't side with him during this post-election process. Maybe he abstains from retaliating against conservatives and starts his own Trump TV channel where 24/7 it's the same hateful rhetoric he spews that got him the Presidency. And some unknown conservatives that are very charismatic and charming whose names we don't even know yet fill in that political vacuum Trump leaves behind and run for House seats on Trump conspiracies and win. Anything can happen.
Don't forget The Bug Man From Sugar Land, Phil and Wendy too. (that's Tom DeLay and Phil Gramm for you youngsters)
in my view trump was final nail in coffin and gop as we knew it officially dead since 2016. in fact when trump was heir apparent of gop i made a thread noting the death and its eulogy https://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/rip-gop-party-1854-2016-gop-appreciation-thread.274613/
The GOP has devolved from Reagan/Bush, to the Limbaugh/Gingrich Contract on America, to the Tea Party, to MAGA-QAnon...can't wait to see what the future holds!
He did still get the most votes of any other candidate besides Biden. They can’t throw him in the gutter just yet. Got to ween the people off him for a bit (see Ingraham’s comments last night imploring Trump to concede if he has to). By late January/February, after the inauguration, they’ll have moved on and Trump will probably never be seen on FoxNews again (barring a run in 2024 where people get on board again). I’d also be surprised if any of these morons trying to defend him right now will still be around for much longer. Cruz and Graham will modify their messages (they have no spines anyway) and folks like Gaetz in Florida and Jordan in Ohio will be migrated out of the House at some point if they don’t fall in line. The party will go back to what it was under Obama and they’ll try to win that way for 2022 and 2024. but....they’ll always be on the lookout for the next controllable authoritarian. However, next time they’ll want someone a little more in check...it’ll be tough finding one with the charisma and spinelessness that Trump had, but they’ll keep looking.
Jim Jordan was on Fox within the last thirty minutes and sounded all sorts of crazy. Fox was trying to talk him off the crazy conspiracy ledge, and frankly it sounded like he didn't want to come down. Love the shift in Fox's message. They realize they will be around long after Trump, and may end up in direct competition with him, so it's kind of an interesting dynamic to listen to right now.
yes some of them are having to ask the hard question of evidence ..and some ballots in a ditch six months ago even for them is tough to straight face. some of the anecdotal stories are brutal coming from poll workers cant come up with anything. at one point they were complaining "not enough pens" guys like cavuto are starting to say things like "president elect biden"
