I think Tyson is still very effective in limited minutes with Harden only line ups (no Russ) but Rockets have to use different defense, drop coverage instead of switch everything. Like a 1 man zone inside a switch everything scheme.

“At the end of the day, it’s about getting to an efficient, great offense,” Houston GM Daryl Morey said prior to Friday’s team practice at the bubble. “We’re already the second-best offense, but we can make that better, I think. We can easily be first throughout the playoffs.”

“Probably no Dreamshakes,” Morey said with a laugh, referring to the famous low-post move of legendary Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon. “If Dream was available, we’d give him lots of those.”

Both D’Antoni and several Houston players have spoken recently about the team’s need to run its offense at a faster pace. Despite going smaller, their pace slipped slightly after the February trade of traditional center Clint Capela for versatile forward Robert Covington.

Rivers spoke to Kelly Iko of The Athletic in an exclusive interview. When asked about ways to amplify Houston’s smaller lineup, Rivers said:

I think speed. I think playing with speed. I think if we’re going to play small, we can’t play slow. That goes against everything that we got going on. I think speed and ball movement are the two ways that we can really bother people with this small ball.

In Thursday’s story, Rivers also made the case for more ball movement on offense — as opposed to just having the role players around stars James Harden and Russell Westbrook space the floor.

Rivers identified himself, Gordon, and Jeff Green as potential playmakers on Houston’s roster outside of Harden and Westbrook. “It’ll make James’ and Russ’ job easier,” Rivers told Iko.

The analysis by Rivers is very similar to these comments made by Gordon in a recent interview with team broadcaster Craig Ackerman:

As it relates to small ball, we’ve got to continuously, I think really play faster. We’ve got to continuously get more open shots. It should be an easier game for us. As good as we are, as many playmakers as we have, we should be coming down the floor taking the easy shot — a good shot every time, with continuous ball movement. I think that would just make things easier.

To that point, Jan. 31 was when the Rockets began playing full-time without a center. Prior to that date, Houston ranked No. 2 in the NBA in pace at 104.2 possessions per game. Since then, the Rockets slipped slightly to No. 8 in pace at 102.0 possessions per game.

Rivers also said the lack of fans at the NBA’s July restart could benefit the smaller Rockets on defense. In the absence of size, switching is at a premium — which requires constant communication.

“It’s going to be quiet in the gym,” Rivers said. “So our voice, we really can make the small ball work defensively. I think we would have made it work with the crowd anyway, but the fact that it’s going to be quiet in this gym that really matters on defense, just with communication and talking.”

In a Facebook Q&A with play-by-play broadcaster Craig Ackerman, Gordon was asked to assess the team’s decision in February to shift to a permanently smaller lineup without a traditional center.

Defensively, we’ve got to be scrappier. That gives us a chance to be more physical. Because rebounding is definitely going to be an issue. Any time no one is taller than 6-foot-6, that can be an issue sometimes.

In the interview, Gordon again said that the extended time off had allowed his knee to fully heal. If the 2019-20 season is able to resume, improved play by Gordon and his increased availability could be a big part of the solution for head coach Mike D’Antoni and the Rockets.

That looks like he's obese compared to when he first came into the league. It seems everybody's gotten thinner. Guess we'll be running a lot. :D

For the fifth spot, D’Antoni has bounced back and forth between House and 6-foot-3 guard Eric Gordon. While Gordon offers substantially more experience and shooting, House has his own advantages with length and defensive versatility. As a result, once the Rockets (40-24) resume their regular season on July 31, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see D’Antoni continue experimenting to find the optimal role for each player.

The Rockets rank No. 2 in the NBA this season in offense but just No. 16 on defense, which makes it a clear source of potential improvement as they gear up for the NBA’s restart later this month.

Earlier this week, reserve forward DeMarre Carroll — who could be competing with House for minutes — singled out House and starting forward Robert Covington as key factors when praising the length, athleticism, and activity level of Houston’s defense in training camp.

Translation: If Harden chokes again, he can't blame that on fatigue this time.

Nichols is pro clickbait, if lebron wins and harden chokes she gets more views. She throwing shots at harden to get us mad and then we gonna respond on twitter its an endless cycle to keep us involved.
