With departure of Millsap via free agency. Denver will most likely keep Grant

Grant has a player option. No chance he takes it. He’s going to get about what Gordon makes or more. $18-22 million will scare some teams off. Hopefully Denver is one of them and they are willing to work out a SNT. Covington/Grant is a championship front court And Harden/Russ is a championship back court.

There isn’t really a team with cap space who would make sense to offer him a big deal. Maybe Phoenix if they just want competent players to keep Booker happy? It’s a good point about a sign and trade, but Gordon for Grant straight up is a poor deal for us imo - and I’m saying that because I think Gordon will be great in the playoffs again

never underestimate the Knicks and their affinity for big men. Some team somewhere will give him a payday. Gordon is the better player but he’s older, too injury prone and a bit redundant on this team.

I would be in favor of this trade, BUT I can’t get over the fact that he buried his first name and chose to use his middle name instead!

Your name is Houston!!! If he makes a public apology for this transgression, and starts using his real name, I’m in favor of adding him to our roster!

If Grant does not sign, then plan B should be to split MLE between 6'8 Josh Jackson and 6'9 Harry Giles.

Both young long athletic highly skilled players who are both coming off poor seasons but still have tremendous upsides.

    Trade EGo for vet 4/5:

    Al Horford
    Jerami Grant (sign & trade)
    Aaron Gordon
    Serge Ibaka (sign & trade)

I think it comes down to position of need and the availability of options on the market. I don’t think the Rockets will have as hard a time finding a guard to play minutes as either a stretch 3/4 or a 5 that meets the Rockets needs.

The drop off between Gordon and Rivers is smaller than the improvement that could be made upgrading House at SF. I think that’s most important. Yes you’d like some long term replacements for Tucker, but House is a weak starter for a championship contender

Nope. Just can’t play with Embiid obviously.

Or move PJ back to SF and sign Grant.

Pj, RoCo and Jerami would be interchangeable anyway.

The Covington trade gave the Rockets greater ability to fill a need from outside the organization.

Yes the Rockets can move Gordon for another 3/4 that either is a really efficient offensive player or defender... but it also opens the Rockets targeting a more traditional 4 to play the 4/5 or even to target someone like a Horford or Ibaka to be a really good 5 for the Rockets needs.

Improving defense and rebounding are going to be at the very top of the Rockets needs. The traditional answer is the improve the 5 position... however the rebounding issue can be filled by adding improved rebounders at the 3/4 as well.

The Rockets have a lot more avenues to improve now. I hope they find a way to address the 5 with someone like Horford or Ibaka.

I don't know about that .... We can expect the cap to contract , teams wont have a whole lot of cap space.

The MLE will very likely be reduced as a result of league revenues dropping and his option year is for $9,346,153.

This is a situation where I could see players opting into those option years in hopes that next offseason the cap goes back to pre covid projections.

Will be an interesting offseason for certain ....

Tucker’s days as a SF are over. I’m sure they will be looking for a more athletic guy who can run in transition, hit 3’s and defend.

House cannot hold a candle to PJ, even now. Tucker's ability to switch D (defend 1-5) is why he is so valuable.

And on offense, he is still money from the corners. So not sure why you believe he is incapable of playing SF.

Think positionless basketball for anyone not named Harden or Westbrook.

House is simply a rotation player (talent wise) right now, best suited for depth role IMO. House is just not long enough (6'8 wingspan) or tenacious enough as a defender as well as too inconsistent as a finisher.

    Is this a joke?

    Tilman is barely solvent.

This dude is gonna strip down the team to nothing.

Yeah really .... I wouldn't put it past him to dump Harden and Westbrook if things don't turn around economically.

Lottery here we come .... Oh wait! Congratulations OKC on the draft picks!
