These guys have always been really popular, but they mostly stayed underground -- I think this album makes them superstars whether they like it or not. The stars have aligned in the craziest way for this album.

Run the Jewels Delivered the Rap Album the Moment Demands

The duo’s ‘RTJ4’ arrived Wednesday, and their music feels more vital than ever.

    I like it.

Hey, they’re right! Fat guys, while slow and dangerous at the buffet line, can still serve a purpose as rappers. I’ll be right back - don’t you go flowing on me!

Why did I think this was a Zack de la Rocha side project?

    Better than WuTang, or not?

    Honest question.

They're not as good as Wu Tang, that's a very high mark IMO.

Can't remember the couple of songs I heard a couple of years ago...really good stuff.

eta: did not realize that was Shea Whigham until the last 30 seconds or so

I disagree. I saw Wu twice (once with Rage) in the 1990’s. RTJ is better than them in my opinion. They don’t really make bad songs often at all. Wu Tang has plenty of good songs, but plenty of bad as well. In saying that I need to listen to them it has been a while.

What are their 1 or 3 best songs, in your opinion.

I'm scouring youtube for the ones I really liked...

I can make a list of 4-5 songs. But if I were you I would just listen to their entire 1st album 3-4 times. That’s more of the approach I would take with a group as good as that one. For instance saying here are 5 of Pink Floyd’s best songs. That kind of robs you of what that band was doing with the albums as a whole.

If I ranked the albums from WTC and RTJ...

    1. Enter the Wu-Tang
    2. RTJ 1-4 tied with Wu-Tang Forever (I could probably rank them in actual order, but the point is they're all pretty close in quality)

    7. All other Wu-Tang albums

So yeah, I'd have to give the edge to RTJ due to the consistency. If it wasn't for El-P, I'm not sure if I'd even be following rap at all these days.

Now, if we're including all Wu-Tang solo albums, then of course it's not even close. :)

Anyone heard the new RA the Rugged Man?

RTJ4 is classic for sure. Also, new Freddie Gibbs...

Not true at all. You have to look at the solo projects as Wu albums. Iron Man, Only Built for Cuban Linx, and Liquid Swords all classics.

I would recommend the first album that's a no brainier and GZA's first solo album -- songs...

The entire first album is classic one of the all time greats.

I was being literal and comparing WTC "proper" albums with RTJ albums. But, what exactly isn't true? I said if we're including all Wu solo albums, then it's not even close (i.e., Wu would win by a long shot).

They're the best duo in Hip Hop and have been for a few years now. And I agree the new album has been great as well.

They always have great content, lyricism, word play and production. They are also very consistent and have high quality albums as a whole, which is rare nowadays.

I have a workout mix and their tracks are all over them.

In my head that is exactly how I was thinking I would rank them yesterday when I was posting.
