Still a highlight of my earthly days going to his summer camps and meeting him. Such a humble, gracious and down-to-earth man. The perfect coach at the perfect time for Hakeem and company. love this news so much.
Is it bad that i just opened this thread assuming it was 3 days old and this was an April fools day joke......
Thanks Steve Patterson for firing Don Chaney and moving Rudy up to coach And thanks for owner Charlie Thomas for believing in him Thanks to Lakers owner Jerry Buss for continuing to pay for Rudy T after he got fired and keeping him on for years as a staff member and paying him His full contract thanks to Rudy T for the two championship trophies we are sorry they were stolen by a greedy b*stard in Florida @Reeko
Common sense prevails, never should have taken this long. His career achievments are clearly deserving, and by virtually all accounts a great human being as well.
Oh man, I got to meet him once too, and shook his hand after a closed Rockets practice, he even offered to take a picture with me (glad the picture came out since it was on film and had to be developed). He's really great and down to earth, every once in a while I'll watch that Rockets NBA Anniversary Special (the one from a few years ago) that details some his life growing up from Michigan. He had to work for everything, but I think stayed really humble. I'll never forget, I met other players that day Francis/Mobley but unfortunately it was after Olajuwon/Barkley and before Yao. Regardless it was great to just to have a chance to be there, I mean he even spoke for a few minutes with my dad and me. And he really didn't have to do any of that, just a really special experience.
Yes, definitely agree with you, extremely humble, and way OVERDUE being in the HOF. I mean with how long they waited they might as well have had him go in w/ Hakeem years ago or something.
Exactly! It wouldn’t have happened otherwise, I’m sure of it. So much bias against the Houston Rockets. Rudy T should have been in the Hall of Fame, as soon as he was eligible.
Wow! This is fantastic. I thought the thread was an April Fools Joke to point out the way things should be.
He was the only coach (not active) who won two titles and the gold medal in the olympics to not be in the fame til now seriously
Kobe Bryant Tim Duncan Kevin Garnett Tamika Catchings Patrick Baumann Kim Mulkey Barbara Stevens Eddie Sutton Rudy Tomjanovich
If you use any form or combination of the phrase “never underestimate...” you are misquoting a legend. “Don’t Ever...” do that again.
