From the latest article from USA today, Detroit is offering Orlando a second roud pick if Orlando does not send pick #18 to Houston. Isn't this considered tampering by league rules??????

    Thoughts.....

i think detroit prefers the red wings of a maxi over the 'quilty' strings of a tampon

I myself like a good "quilt" when it's a little cold outside.

Where do you see that on their site? I looked all over and couldn't find it.

By the way - no, it's not tampering and there is a precedent for this (as I posted a little while back in another thread). Orlando wanted Dennis Scott at the 4th overall pick, but was afraid Seattle (at #2) would take him. So they sent a first round draft pick and some money to Seattle so that they wouldn't take Scott. They didn't - Seattle took Payton instead - and Orlando got their man in Scott.

    Jeez,
Is this sight loaded with smart@$$eS or what.

    mfclark,
This would seem a little different than that example. The example you mention is an agreement for their own picks. This would appear as outside influence regarding another team.

God, if all Detroit is offering is a 2nd round pick, then we can certainly offer that, or even two 2nd round picks. We don't have'em this year, but if that #18 pick can get us Battier or Johnson or White....

I thought the Pistons were actually offering something of value. Certainly we can match or exceed this?

I would think that Detroit could care less if the rockets got the 18th pick as long as Orlando gives it to us after June 1st.

I think Northern has "quilty softness" but I don't know if Detroit is similar to Northern. From all the burnt out cars lying around inner city Detroit, I'd think they're more sandpaper than quilty toiletpaper.

I went straight to Larry Coon, CBA expert, and asked him whether it was legal or not for Detroit to just send a 2nd round pick to the Magic with no compensation. He replied:

<<They could do it. One scenario that comes up in expansion years
is when a team gives a team something (draft pick, etc.) in
exchange for not picking one of their players in the expansion
draft -- same thing as the scenario you're talking about.>>

So it's not tampering at all.
