When he runs out of money he will play in China at age 36 for 900 grand per yr gross.

    Dumb move imo.

    Retire at 34 or 35.

    Cool

LA darling teams get another quality role player for free.

League is just in such a lame place right now.

Dude retired like 3 months ago and now he's back? There should be a rule if you announce your retirement you should sit out at least one season before coming back. This league is a joke.

Just out if curiosity how would that change his ability to sign with a LA team (not being sarcastic)

Well if he really was hellbent on going to LA it wouldn't make much of a difference. But in the offseason player contracts expire, teams have more cap space and money to spend. A bunch of teams could make a nice offer to Collison and it would make for a more competitive market.

This league is truly becoming a mockery of itself: the Melo saga, Kerr’s statements, Silver’s half-assed attempts at change, Kawhi’s uncle, the Lebron agent saga, challenge rule, referees and replay center’s role, senile commentators, redneck and dim-witted former players takes, twitter announcements and anti-Harden sentiment.

So instead of signing with the Bulls for the $8-10mill he was (allegedly offered), he faked retirement so he could sit out half the season and then see which LA team was going better, and sign with them.

    Did I nail it?

Still doesn't make sense... if someone retires rather than sign a 'nice offer', then it is hardly use of an exploit....

A player only retires when he files retirement papers with the league, to undo that takes more paperwork. Collison never filed so he never officially retired so he can come back when he wants, no different than any FA that could not find a team that would not sign him.

Wow. I agree with chunks of that statement. It's sort of depressing.

This is def it. He prob just got burned out and found he liked being a missionary/volunteer more.

The important thing is he racked up lots of money so he can go do what he wants in life. And he is only 31 so if he runs out of money in like 2-3 years he can still come back and make more.

Lol didnt realize he retired before the season. Maybe he was just burned out before the season ended and then realized he made a mistake.

But I dont have an issue with him retiring cuz he was a free agent regardless. Its not like he was under contract when he retired like that dude from Milwaukee whats his name

Not sure why people are making a big deal of this. He was an unsigned free agent who ‘retired’ then decided to see if he could get a contract. Sounds reasonable to me. If I were at that point in my career, I suppose I would want to go to a contender also. Not sure how this is evidence “the league is a joke.”

I agree. Just typical Clutchfans being dramatic.

The only way this would be a joke is if Adam personally asked Darren to "retire" while he paid him on the side and then asked him to unretire near February to get him to help one of the LA teams.

    Lol.
