Don't think it's obvious the match-up would favor the Nationals. Seems pretty even to me:

    Greinke: 208.2 IP, 2.93 ERA, 154 ERA+, 3.22 FIP, .982 WHIP
    Scherzer: 172.1 IP, 2.92 ERA, 157 ERA+, 2.45 FIP, 1.027 WHIP

Their home run and hit rates were identical. Scherzer struck out more batters, but Greinke walked fewer. I think the FIP difference is mostly the strikeouts. Basically they pitched about as equal as you can outside of innings pitched.

I'm all out of answers fellas, before we came back home I said we were going to have to BEAT some combo of Strasburg and Scherzer to win the championship, which is a tall order. Our boys just have to find a way to go out there tonight and do it. But....

    But I still believe
    I still believe
    Through the pain
    And through the grief
    Through the lies
    Through the storms
    Through the cries
    And through the wars
    OH, I STILL BELIEVE!!!!!!

That's absurd. Both teams have plenty of pitchers to use tonight. Obviously we don't know how any of them will perform, but Scherzer does not have to give them a complete game. Hell, if he gives them 3 innings, that oughta be enough. After that they can go to Sanchez and Corbin. Same goes for the Astros. If Greinke only makes it through 3 or 4 innings but limits their runs, Hinch has Cole and Urquidy before he needs to use Harris-Smith-Osuna.

Tonight this group of Astros will either become the 1990's Braves or the 1990's Yankees.

Interesting. Are Greinke's above stats for the year or since joining the Astros?

Yeah, I remember that well, but Bum is a different cat. I don't think most humans would have fared so well in that situation. But I could see Cole for 1-2 innings if needed. I'm sure he's willing.

It was a questionable call, but I don't get the continued outrage. If you are going to be outraged about that, you should also be outraged by the no-call on catcher's interference on Reddick in game 1. That was a worse call and likely had a bigger impact on the game.

I'm not trying to complain about the Reddick no-call, just suggesting people are trying to find things to complain about in terms of the umps.

    I
How? Say they lose, that's 1 out of 2 in WS championships. The Braves lost the WS to the Twins, Jays and Yanks.
The 2000s Cardinals went to a World series lost it against the miserable Red sox, came back 2 seasons later and won one. They then disappeared for 4 seasons and won one again.

It feels like some fans would have rather lost to the Yanks than to be in a game 7 in the world series. I say no matter the outcome, embrace the mystique of the game seven.

The only thing I will be productive at today while at work isn't work related and requires toilet paper. AND it is only 10:15
