In an ESPN.com article today on the Yankees and Kevin Brown, this statment was made . . . Club officials privately believe Pettitte, despite winning 21 games last year, is headed for elbow problems. Yet, Brown's back concerns them less, despite having lived through a dark experience with Wells, another lower lumbar-challenged hurler. Has anyone in the organization mentioned Pettitte's elbow problems as being serious or longterm issues? Is anyone else surprised or worried by this, or is it old news? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2004/columns/story?columnist=klapisch_bob&id=1745141
Pettitte has talked before about his elbow problems. A one point early in the season last year, it was serious enough that he considered shutting it down for the year. Don't know how serious it is long term.
I'm not saying he hasn't had problems before, but for them to be spewing this out now is hallarious. This was mentioned previous to the signing as well, both in NY media and Houston media, I believe.
