Sources: Butler still Moreys MAIN target this summer/MDAs seat getting hot

i can get behind a PJ and Gordon for Butler trade, if only because we need the length and Tucker will be 35 next season. But i still don't think it's much of an upgrade over what we have. I think you'd have to make another move to replace Gordon's deep shooting.

 

We're not trading Tucker. He was way too valuable against the Warriors. Plus he's the key to the whole switching defensive system functioning.

I'm still not sure how Butler could be had though. Wouldn't he have to opt into his final year like CP3 did? I mean, if he does that, then he can be acquired for a package of EG and Nene(plus picks). Philly might go for that if they had assurances Gordon would resign. But it seems much more likely Butler gets way more than 20 mil from some other team and just signs there as a free agent.

 

That is NOT the choice They cannot trade Butler because he is not under contact with them.
Butler has never expressed any interest in playing for Houston. So, why would he opt in to a contract with a massive pay cut to do so?

 

This whole Butler idea is completely predicated on the fact that Butler WANTS to be here, and nowhere else. That's what made the CP3 deal work, and this is the same situation. There haven't been any indications that Butler feels that way, but then again, there weren't any indications that CP3 felt that way either.

I don't get all the hype over Butler. WTH do we need yet another guard for? How is that a huge upgrade? We need a big forward who can score consistently, and also play some mean defense, rebound, and block shots. We need an AD or KD type to make us better. Someone better than Shumpert, House, and Faried. Screw all this small ball BS and guards oozing out from everywhere. I really would love to see a change from our whole way of playing. Too slow, dribble dribble dribble ISO over and over and over. Ugh with the predictability. Its like watching Groundhog Day. Nothing changes.

The odds of us getting Butler are low. But (1) they're higher than they were an hour ago, and (2) they're higher than the odds of that Kawhi shot bouncing in.
