my wife an i are expecting a son in a few weeks. a few months back i started a poll about some potential names and got some great feedback. we're close, but still debating, and one of the names that keeps coming up is "Christian." we both love it, i had a cousin who died at a yound age (had a heart attack swimming in the north sea!) named christian, and it scratches the scandinavian itch for is. trouble is, our daughter's name is "Grace" and somehow "Grace and Christian" may be a bit too "Faith, Hope and Charity" for us. also, our preferred middle name is "Noble" and "Christian Noble," two lofty adjectives, sounds a bit much. what do you guys think?

I think it is a great name, albeit I may be a bit biased. You just have to watch out for Night Ranger jokes.

I have named all 11 of my children. ( 7 boys, 4 girls.) I have none in reality, as of yet, but the names are in place. Christian is one of them, though I don't like Noble. It's a nice name.

My middle name, to go with Christian, is Alexander. Sort of rolls off the tongue.

I agree that Christian Noble is a bit too much. The problem isn't that they are both adjectives but that Noble can be a noun. So the name sounds more like a title than anything. I think one or the other would work fine, but not both together. You'll have to have another son to accomodate all the names.

Alexander could work- our alternate would probably be my wife's last name, Sorensen. Christian Sorensen, which is also nice, but then there's the "Grace and Christian" issue, which seems a bit much for the child of a unitarian and an agnostic.

Being as my full name has 25 letters, might I suggest an alternative to Christian Alexander.

I have friends who have a daughter named Grace and a newborn son named Luke. Luke is a short enough name, and Luke Christian has a little alliteration working for it.

All four of my children have 3 letter first names to go with a more formal middle name and a 9-letter last name.

Their middle names are: Christopher, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Justine.

Their given names are: Ned, Amy, Zoe, and Ali

Naming kids is a tortured journey.

lovely. we were always in agreement on Grace, but struggled with her middle name (Johanna). this one has been alot tougher i think, more so since it's likely the last chance we'll get!

You better like the name Chris, because that is what he will be called when he hits grade school and from then on.

How about Barnes? Please just say your last name is not Bookstore.
