Might bit silly, but while perusing the Lakers fans forums last night, I've noticed quite a few of them hoping for Yao to pull a Shaq and goto LA when he's up for FA. Makes me feel good that Yao gets his, but kinda scary when I think about it...what if he actually left for LA? Hand me my Maalox, my stomach's upset already
I'm sure the Laker board is similar to ClutchFans in that, after every defeat, posters want to trade for the other team's players. As Hannibal Lector said, "What do you covet? You covet what you see."
No dude, seriously. Even before they played last night's game, they have been talking about getting Yao to LA. They even though it's a good idea to spread rumors that Houston doesn't like Yao so that he can come to LA. Silly Fakers
Their forums are almost hysterical as ours after a loss. Give Shaq the damn ball, give Kobe the damn ball, Medvedenko sucks, GP got torched and doesn't pass the ball, etc. I did like this nickname for Mo though: "Second Quarter- Maurice "I kill the Lakers" Taylor would come in and dominate the Lakers for 12 points" Hehe.
What is the website for their forums? Better yet, what was that link that someone posted a while back that had all the NBA message boards on it?
Awesome site. Their forum activity ratings are a bit off though. http://www.bleachermob.com/madness.html
If Shaq does not get an extension which I don't think he will get, Kobe will resign with the Lakers. Shaq's contract will be up after 2005-2006. Yao's contract is technically over at that point even though the Rockets can match any offer another team gives to Yao. Of course, they will look at Yao especially if Shaq is not resigned. Los Angeles will roll out the red carpet for him.
I'm not sure whether you were responding to hotballa or to me. However, Clutch is very good at spotting and eliminating trolls who are just here to start trouble. Also, I don't think there are very many teams/fans out there that don't covet Yao Ming.
There's always the threat of a young talent moving on when their first contract is up. The CBA however really has helped teams to keep their star player or atleast get adequate compensation. Either way, we'll know Yao's intentions at the end of his third year. If he's willing to stay with the Rox, we will lock him up for a long term contract with the max. If he isn't, we can sign him to the team option fourth year, and then try to trade him sometimes during the year (perhaps to a contender for picks if we don't become one next year) to get some compensation back. It would suck if we lose Yao either way though, but atleast the current system allows us to soften the pain a little.
I never said you said anything bad about Yao. I said Clutch is good about removing trolls (like Laker fans who come over into the board to "to spread rumors that Houston doesn't like Yao so that he can come to LA." ) As you said, "silly Fakers."
they keep whining about how yao didnt outplay shaq because we double teamed him a lot, while they only played 1-on-1 on yao Laker fans are the most arrogant somb*tches around. They will never give credit where it's due.
