[Heist Cinema] Steve McQueen's 'Widows'

fwiw: this was a 2nd remake, right?...third time was not the charm.

It's a classic heist movie where they put together an all-star cast, but it has zero substance. Not a heist that made sense to me (planning, roles, threats) nor was it exciting in execution.

Had to look her up, right after that scene. She's a legit amateur sprinter. I think they just wanted some reason to have her take off. It was cool to watch, though.

 

It was the most intriguing part of the trailer, IMO. 60% of my interest in the movie was because of that one clip. I was pretty disappointed they couldn't use such a striking visual somewhere else in the damn movie.

 

Yeah, I borrowed my copy from the internet.

 

Had pretty modest expectations for this movie. They were not met.

 

This has to be the most overrated movie of 2018. Black Panther was overrated, but it was still a solid 7/10 movie. This was closer to like a 4/10. It had some moments of good acting and a few good moments of camera work and suspense. But Nothing about it is believable from the characters to the plot. I still don't really understand what went into anyone's decision making process. The heist itself is just an afterthought.

Yes, it somehow has a rating of 91% on RT. Higher than Inception.

 

We just watched and agree, the movie dragged for so long I was openly rooting that they just get the dang heist over with. Such a great cast wasted.
