He isn't cheap, he is just not wealthy enough to have bought the team with cash and not smart enough to have raised equity. The interest expense portion of his expenses is something other owners do not have to deal with. He is levered up to his eyeballs, and I believe he has a massive debt service that he plans to eventually pay down by squeezing every penny he can out of the team. The great part is that he will get destroyed with this purchase in a downturn if his rate is variable .Typically you raise equity and use cash to become majority owner. Tilman is a greedy mobster that didn't want to take on significant equity partners. He paid a record amount for the team, and it will likely lose 25-30% of its value once Harden's contract is over, regardless if he re-signs. We will wait until he loses this team, hopefully have a new owner who can afford to play the game.
