i don't know about that. he still has significant room to prove that he is that type of player. that's not nearly enough games to me. But he did show he can contribute to winning on this team and at the end of the day I wouldn't mind having him back at all. I think it'll happen eventually.

    No.

If your starting SF is only shooting 9 ppg and 3 rebs you aren't winning many games.

    FYI EG as a starter:
    16 pts 2.5 rebs 2 assists
    Trevor Ariva:
    12.6 5.5 rebs 3.8 assists

9 ppg is more like a bench role, unless you are like Tucker who is ridiculously good at defense.

    • our draft picks have zero trade value and
    • all the players who bolt have zero trade value, and
    • any who sign can't be traded until Dec 15th
    • We need a real trade
    • We have FREE money to spend this year with the remainder of the MLE. And can still fit some of it under the tax
Given those FACTS: It's more than prudent to collect future trade assets when you have 5 expirings in your rotations, and after you just traded so many assets away
there's yet another maybe by you. And a very huge one given the fact House must OK any SnT.

How many maybes are you going to create to get around the prudent need to lock up assets to replace all the ones we lost and will lose this summer.

You're just shooting yourself in the foot to not sign House with our free MLE money

I think it is possible you could get Faried next season on a vet min+raise. Basically the deal Moute turned down. Faried's role and success is very specific to the Rockets. Not sure what the market will be for him outside of Houston. Like, there was a reason he was on the bench in Denver/Brooklyn.

That would leave the T-MLE for Rivers or someone else.

I kind of like the Rockets using ALL of the T-MLE on 1 person so that "salary number" is then available for aggregation in trades. Ditto for re-sining Iman Shumpert with bird rights. Rockets need some "mid-tier" salary on their books for flexibility in trades.

    maybe ... see Luc
maybe ... see Josh Smith (while flirting with others, Josh whines and bolts ... and the "other" could just be trying an MLE on Morris, who rejects it)
    maybe ... see Ariza

lot of maybes, that haven't come true for quite awhile, actually, except re-signing Nene...ooff

imo, and I know you agree (I'm just responding for emphasis), None of those maybes are more a sure thing than House can be locked up, and Harden will continue to increase his trade value....and House is the cheapest of them all, and can be bought with 2019 MLE money.

Yeah, they are a lot of maybes. But that is where we are. And yes they should lock up House.

I am confident, like you, that Faried will sign, mainly because he knows he was wildly overpaid for 4 great years of huge money. So, he might approach us like Green did, and think he's sitting pretty money-wise and will just enjoy the Harden victory tour.

And on Faried with the Rockets......it has been pretty good for him.

dude you were the one saying it was a fact House was valuable as a trade asset.

please explain how this is a fact?

the fact is he is a restricted free agent so it's a fact that he is still an asset.

I said nothing about a maybe, you are the one claiming things that are not remotely true.

So you think Faried will sign for the minimum because he was overpaid, yet we should sign House for the MLE and he would be benefiting from the same Harden victory tour.

Faried has been much more impactful than House yet you want to pay House 4 times his salary.

How does this make any sense.

Agree with you and Deuce, I feel he has found a home here and as long as we keep a place for him where he can be used to his fullest and be part of the team I think he can stay long term. He is a younger, less talented defensively version of Nene. Let's face it, if he played D he would never have been traded and bought out. Nene when young was simply amazing with an awesome D skill set. We get a very limited version of what he used to be. Faried doesn't have that skill set but his energy around the rim is a great asset. Instead of the Zhou's you need players like this to fill out the top 10 of a roster that actually play meaningful minutes. Give me someone that plays with energy on D and fills a role on O over a big that can shoot 3s any day. We don't need unicorns, we need solid reliable depth that can fit with our team and play in an NBA game.

One of the more underrated things about having Faried is I believe he will raise Capela's energy level. I expect him to end the season even better than he started.
