    CP3 + Gordon + Ennis + 2 first rounds for Jrue Holiday + Nikola Mirotic + E'Twuan Moore.

Not sure how helpful passing is going to be in the Playoffs when you need shots from your creators (when Harden is being locked down).

CP3 isn’t going anywhere so you may as well forget about that

I can't wait until the 8th seeded Rockets beat the Warriors in the first round with a healthy Chris Paul

The Rockets aren’t trading Chris Paul five months after signing him to a 4-year extension. Plus, even when his shot isn’t falling, he impacts the game positively in other ways. Go ask the Pelicans if they beat the Blazers in the first round last year without Rondo.

I'm sure we could find a way to send him to Lebron in LA and get Boston to send us Hayward with them receiving cap relief/ youngsters.

Hayward has been garbage so far - but he is younger and will likely recover some semblence of game.

    Gordon for James Johnson?

I dunno... one can dream right???

It's too bad that we can't acquire a solid backup PG like Rozier or even Brogdon to help CP3 out. I hope Knight will make gradual progress and become a productive player.

John Wall is the only other bad contract at this super-max level.

    A few options:
Wall, Mahinmi for Paul and picks
Wall, Porter for Paul, Gordon and picks
Wall, Morris, Dekker for Paul and picks

I’d trade him, but we are so upside down with that insanely bad contract there’s no way anyone will ever touch it. The Rockets are stuck with Chris Paul. Period. For a long time!

Last 3 years of his deals are going to be toxic. 98% sure

There is still a small possibility that he stays productive towards the end of the contract. Very small.

We have to truly we ALL IN and maximize this 2 year window. SMH.

There is a chance that this will all blow up in the Rockets face, and then we will be back to step 1.

    Stupid hamstring.

While I agree that the Rockets should expect more out of CP3, and clearly he’s not playing up to his contract, his $40 million annual salary is irrelevant in this discussion. Whether the Rockets keep or trade him, they will have that same amount of salary on the books for the foreseeable future. Nobody in the NBA is giving you a good deal for CP3 at $40 million shooting like this. You would have to eat toxic contracts in return or attach a bunch of unprotected first round picks to move him. So unless the Rockets want to give up assets to move him, or take back other toxic contracts that don’t have CP3’s track record of elite play, they are better off staying put and hoping he finds his shooting stroke ASAP.

As for the contract itself, the Rockets were going to be over the cap whether they re-signed CP3 or not. In that regard, it didn’t matter whether they gave him 10 million or 40 million. Giving CP3 $40 million a year only impacts Fertitta’s luxury tax bill and his willingness to pursue and retain key role players.

Oh, I don't know. You could probably move CP3 to a team like Atlanta or New York for expirings + Courtney Lee or Bazemore, but it isn't going to happen. Not during the season, anyway.

Let's calm down. CP3 isn't shooting well but his passing and defense are generally still there. We do need to get a third PG type to back up both CP3 and Harden (EGO can handle the rock but he isn't a PG).
