    I'm a bit late here but the main reason this story got big at least in Holland and Belgium is beacuse of the fact that the guy is semi famous there.

    I don't really know enough about the American celebrity world to compare him to someone but i'm sure you know someone who's famous beacuse of some weird things and from time to time say or do something controversial.

    If i remember correctly he even dubbed some characters to dutch in animated movies.
