I got one because I have to for work but I'd have got one anyway for the sake of the kid and newborn. 19% is still something, so why not. It's free or really cheap and takes 10 seconds. Just get one at the CVS next time you stop in for some anti diarrhea pills.

    Also:

Charles Barkley thinks all these flu shot analytics nerds are just trying to exert power over us because they could never get laid. Give me the ol' Eye Test when it comes to vaccine effectiveness any day!

I stopped taking flu shots because of this. Only reason to get a vaccine is if you can't miss a day or town work or you work around lots of people or have kids. I probably won't take another flu vaccine till i'm in my late 50's.

Yes. It's perfectly safe. It reduces your chances of being bed-ridden for weeks. It makes your symptoms more mild even if you get another strain. Why not?

This is so depressing. And you know damned well we could do better if we'd update the production methods.

what happened to that super flu shot they were working on to tackle all the strains? I guess it is not ready and another 80,000 people have to die.

Everybody seems to be falling over themselves trying to make flu shots accessible to me. They'll give it to me at the office, or to the kids at school, at the doc's office when we come in, at the drug store, etc. Here is why I have not done it: they make it convenient for individuals but not families. The company will give me a flu shot, but not the kids. The school will give the kids one, but not me. And there are 2 different schools I have to think about. Or, maybe one of them gets a flu shot from the pediatrician while she's there, but not the other kids. And I have 4 to keep straight. And my wife is self-employed, so she'd have to go to the doctor specifically for it. With this piecemeal coverage, I can't really remember who in my family got one and who still needs one. I know I filled out paperwork to get one kid a shot, but can't remember which. The other school hasn't offered yet, but it is supposedly coming. What I need to do is set aside some time on a Saturday where everyone gets a flu shot at the same time at the same place.

Our pediatrician office has "flu vaccine drives" on a few Saturdays where they'll give anyone and everyone flu shots. And free donuts. My 2 y/o didn't even notice the shot because of the mouthful of donut.

Bluefish Pediatrics is who we use. They have a few offices around town.

it seems it would be better suited to teach people how to avoid getting sick than sticking them with vaccines every year. If people knew they were sick and just stay home, it would greatly help the problem. If a sick person needs food or medicine, call the store/pharmacy and ask them to bring it to your car.

My company offers them for free. Last time I got one, my arm was sore for weeks and I think I actually got the flu a month later. That was 3 years ago. I haven't had one since and I haven't gotten sick since. Weird.

If you ever get the flu, and I'm talking about the REAL flu, you'll probably always want to get the flu shot. Many times people think they have the flu, when really all they have is a cold or some minor virus. The flu will knock you out. Some people die.

Even if it's only partially effective, then it's still worth getting in my opinion. Some protection is better than no protection.

Just for you, I went and got a flu shot today for free at a drugstore. My insurance, crappy though it may be, seems to cover them now.
