    Okay, I'll admit it: I finally gave in and bought a cell phone. (Well, we got a "family plan," but whatever).

    1. I am seeking advice on the best software for backing-up cell data, such as downloading my phone list or what-not to my home computer.

    2. My partner's cell is a picture phone. She wants to download the photos to her home computer. I assume this can dovetail, software wise, with question #1. We just want a simple USB cable (or similar) sort of solution -- no need for a wireless transfer in this case.

    Thanks. :eek: These are very sad times for me, as I agree with drapg, a noble man who, if memory serves, threw his cell phone from his car window and never looked back.

    As a prof, I would imagine that you hate the ring/music of cell phones more than the average human. Seriously, why is it so hard for my fellow students to shut the damn thing off before class starts?

    You are correct sir.

    I suddenly feel very alone in this world, especially after the verbal beatdown I was given by friends and family this weekend because I didn't have a cell phone and they were unable to reach me all weekend (because I PURPOSELY didn't answer my home phone so I could watch the NFL games in peace).

    For shame B-Bob... For shame!

    Yes, my policy is to answer student cell phone calls for them. The impending harm to their social lives keeps the ringers off.

    My new phone, after a quick download, clucks like a chicken. Unidentified callers give an angry chicken cluck. Heaven help me.

    Sorry, drapg. :( I don't expect forgiveness or understanding.

    I am proud to say I have no celluar phone nor do I want one. Even if it has video games, a camera, and plays the sports center theme when someone calls.

    Wow B-Bob skipping the unicellular phase and going straight to the multicellular family plan - i'm speechless... :eek:

    Buy one of the phones that allow one to connect to your PC.

    There's a few that were free on Amazon with a two year license agreement.

    SO, what phones did you get, and what company did you sign the contract with?
