Calling Ariza and Luc "highly productive" while ignoring the $20M price tag they would have come with is highly suspect.
Ariza and Moute were "highly productive" By what standard of measure is that? And I think they were good for you guys but highly productive is different.
Seems like the tweet specifically mentions having to pay up for them. The questionable part about the tweet is more the highly productive comment...
Yes but that same owner will drop 160 million on Chris Paul and has made nearly 100 million dollar offer to Capela? Not sure it is really "cheap". TF isn't Dolan, he isn't just going to perpetually live in the luxury tax but if he were really more concerned with money, than winning, he could have forced a number of moves to save money. Yes it would have been wonderful to have Ariza as a safety blanket at $15,000,000 but at the end of the day, not many teams would have brought him back.
Sure, but he's ignoring the fact that it's not just a $20M when you include tax. It's one thing to say, "Pay up, Tilman." It's another to say, "Pay up on THESE GUYS, Tilman." But really, the entire tweet is questionable. However, it seems like this is the majority view of most national media, and even NBA fans. They see the Rockets as having taken a MAJOR step backwards this off-season.
I think Melo is meant to be Anderson replacement for when we get rid of him. Unfortunately Melo will have the same limitations that Anderson had with not being playable against certain teams but as a guy who can open up lane angles for Harden, Melo is a big upgrade over Anderson. I agree that the Ariza/Luc losses were likely calculations. As much as I liked both guys, they were both slipping. Ennis ought to be a decent Luc replacement if not better but I still think we need a more proven 3 and d guy to replace Ariza with. I think Morey will likely be filling that gap on the trade market this season. Anderson's contract is still not great, but I think it becomes a lot more palatable as the year goes on and he is much closer to an expiring deal than a multi-year cap killer.
Just like last offseason. "THERES ONLY ONE BALL". We have no idea if we'll win 65 or 45. All we know is that the media takes are worth zilch.
Based on his previous comments, I don't think he is. Just a lowly media man looking for reaction clicks to stay relevant instead of putting out quality material that's worthy of thought.
