It's not great for your reputation, but for a borderline guy like Bjelica who probably has 1-2 years of relevance left before he has to go back to Europe, who is not disallowed from this type of behavior by the CBA, who found someone willing to pay him more, who cares? Go get that money!
I thought it was because he didn't get a big enough offer after the CBA correction and then asked for more. Kind of a blur, to be honest. Could very well be wrong. At any rate, for a guy like Bjelica who doesn't necessarily need to maintain a good reputation in the NBA, this makes a lot of sense. If he plays well, someone will pay him in 2021. If not, he goes back to Europe. What does he care about the Sixers title window?
