That confident? Kawhi will still be a top 5 player in 5 years...

My point is that maybe Tatum, picks, salary filler is enough to get Kawhi while keeping the core in tact. Yes, losing Tatum would hurt but you would have the chance at keeping one of the top 3-5 players in NBA. I noted the risk.

Yeah, if that is what the Lakers are offering....no wonder the Spurs went to the media to drive up the price.

For all we know, Kashi would go to Clippers, too.

Ainge will know the Laker's 2019 cap situation in like two weeks. Ainge will drop his offer the longer Pops waits. And you're making too much of a Kyrie for Kashi straight up deal. Stevens already proved he doesn't really need Kyrie. I think Ainge would make that up to deadline, depending upon LA's position (or Clippers), but imo, that's less than he'd consider prior to the season.

Why isnt Philly being talked about here? Is Philly low balling too or something? I know they can put up comparable offers to Celtics and Lakers.

The luxury tax would be insane on that team.

The Celtics love Tatum. They aren’t going to move him for kawhi when he isn’t committing

Again, I love Tatum and his potential but think of it this way:

If I have a team that should make it to the ECF, at the very least, next year if everyone stays relatively healthy and I face the Warriors or the Rockets in the Finals, what is the one thing that I can do to basically guarantee a championship for Boston?

Scoring? You have Kyrie, Hayward, then Brown and Horford for that.

The possibility/ability to shut down Harden or Durant to seal the championship? That's something that Tatum can't do but Kawhi, at 90%-100% healthy, can. And then you tack on the fact that Leonard can put points on the board too.

yeah i get it, KL when hes healthy is a top player in this league. Was just pointing out Tatum is definitely special and has a pretty high ceiling based on what he can already do.

yeah i see what you're saying. I was just making a point about Tatum and his very high ceiling based on how good he is already.

Nah, we should keep Capela. He’s a rising star.

I seriously wouldn't even trade Tatum straight up for Kawhi. Tatum is 7 years younger than Kawhi and had a better rookie season, including a great playoff run with some clutch moments. Kawhi also has potential injury issues.

It's basically a battle between instant gratification or the long play.

Do you want a significantly better chance at a parade next June by replacing Tatum with Kawhi or wait until the Warriors dynasty ends and take the reigns then?

Not to mention he will be about 1/5 the cost of Kawhi over the next 3 years. Ainge really hit the jackpot on that trade. Not sure what the Sixers were thinking.
