Does high variance make the game less enjoyable?

The Rockets are on the extreme end of high variance basketball, but the rest of the league is also trending this way. My theory is that a high variance approach like volume 3 point shooting leads to more blowouts even when between more or less similar level teams.

The conference finals, for example, look like they could each go 7 games with 5 or 6 being decided by double digits (and some of them even by 20+ points). It may be better for the cardiac health of fans, but we are losing the kind of drama that makes thing interesting.

Yesterday's game was an anomaly but it was what we needed.

It makes betting more manic at the very least.

If the teams im watching aint exactly my favorite, high variance really lowers the enjoyment. like the boston vs cavs series. There's a reason why the houston vs warriors game 4 was an instant classic and had even casual fans getting all excited. Feels like a movie. Even that sound bites from d antoni was really cool. and that interview on chris paul houston were coming home. I need more of those games FROM OTHER TEAMS. lol. With houston more boring win please.

Actually, Game 4 was high variance too. The blowouts happened in the quarters.

The obvious answer to the question is yes.

Except when the Rockets are blowing out other teams.
