Electrical outlet help? (Smart Switch)

    I'm installing a smart switch and looking for the neutral wire. On my other switch box I successfully found 2 white wires twisted in a nut so those were my neutral wires. Installed that switch and everything is working. I'm working on switch number 2 and now I see a white and black wire twisted in a nut. That worries me.

    is this the neutral wire in the photo?

    It depends, are those 2 wires both coming from the same romex (cable) as the 3 going to the switch? Or are they separate. I can't really tell from the pic. If it's the same wire, they could very well just be spare wire that's not being used, if they're separate, then that could be a few different things. When was the house built?

    Trying touching both neutral wires to your tongue. If nothing happens, they are probably the ground.
