J.D. Davis just hit a 2-run homer, his 4th with Fresno and 25th of the season.

    Corbin Martin dealing yet again.

4 IP, unearned run, BB, 4 K; the run scored on a sac fly and there was an error on the play

Ronnie Dawson's last 10 games: 18 for 40, .450 average, 3 home runs, 5 BB, and only 7 K's. His improved performance has been going on for over a month now

    Fun Facts:

Abraham Toro Hernandez fun fact...has thrown out 33% of attempted basestealers in his part time catching duties (4 of 12). Not too bad for a converted 3B in his first year catching

Garrett Stubbs threw out 51% last year and 33% so far this year

Jake Rogers throwing out 49% so far this year

His offensive explosion this season is all the more impressive given that he has also had to deal with trying to learn a new position. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the FO saw how well he was hitting and scrapped the catching idea to allow him to move up faster.

To what end though? I could see moving him back to 3B if they wanted to pump up his value as a trade chip but otherwise it doesn't do much. We have a glut of corner infielders in the high minors already.

Diaz, 33, was 1-4 with a 5.70 ERA in 31 appearances for the Rays this season. He was outrighted off the Rays' 40-man roster on July 19 and elected to become a free agent on the 21st.

    30 IP, 32 H (4 HR allowed), 20 R (19 ER), 15 BB (2 IBB), 28 K, 1.57 WHIP, .271 opponent average

Last time I saw him pitch, Jack in the Box had an ad in the upper left corner of the screen with word "Jumbolicious" while he was warming up. I know, childish...but I laughed hard.

LOL, jumbo indeed. You can barely see his belt.

Dude used to get up to triple digits. He's supposedly lost a couple of ticks, but there are worse AAA reclamation projects.

Freudis Nova with an .862 OPS in the DSL and almost a 1:1 BB:K ratio (only 18 strikeouts in 30 games). He's the next one to reach the hype train.

    4 Tri-City pitchers combined on a 10-inning 1-hitter last night.

    Tyler Ivey: 4.2 IP, BB, 3 K
    Diogenes Almengo: 1.1 IP, K
    Carlos Hiraldo: 3 IP, H, 3 BB, 6 K
    Reggie Johnson: W (4-0), IP, 3 K

The ValleyCats won 1-0 over Vermont via shrimp; Jake Adams, who had a golden sombrero, drew the bases-loaded walk in the 10th inning.

DSL Blue catcher Nerio Rodriguez hit a 3-run homer yesterday, his 4th homer of the year.

The Marlins did not attempt to steal on him; the last time he was behind the plate, which was Friday, he caught 5 would-be thieves. He's got a little 4-game hitting streak going; three of those have been 2-hit games.

Ramiro Rodriguez also hit his 4th homer (solo) of the season for the DSL Orange team; he's slashing .372/.483/.587 on the year. His .483 OBP, .587 slugging percentage, and 1.070 OPS leads everyone in the Dominican, while the .372 average ranks 3rd.

Nerio is throwing out 63% of baserunners so far. We have some guys who can really throw in our system

Two more hits for Ronnie Dawson so far; he's extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
