It's great to be a Rockets fan in the end, not many fans had the chance to cheer for a winning team and a player like Dream.
Even better was Hakeem making Shaq cry in the championship and then the sweep celebration on Richmond. Man, that was an incredible time to be a Rockets fan. I'll remember it for the rest of my life.
Harden Euro crossing over Kawhi Leonard making him fall will be the equivalent of the above? Or a Harden euro on Kashi
Was there a general feeling among fans that the Rockets would at least make it to the Finals that year?
Maybe early on, but when the Rockets started "running in mud" and then the injuries piled up, things got cloudy. After the Drexler trade, people had high hopes but the injuries kept going on. Fortunately they got everyone healthy in time for the playoffs and the team gelled as it went along.
Also, after pulling thru a SECOND 3-1 deficit vs the PHX, yes, it felt like we could get to the finals again and then dominating SAS/ORL was just the icing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995_NBA_Playoffs
Man, it sucks sometimes... I think more people would know how dominant Hakeem was on both ends of the court if he played in an era with social media/real Internet etc, I mean basketball was big but not like it is now from the global aspect (I'm not talking about you or anyone on the thread , just in general on shitty boards that aren't CFs). Even people who don't watch sports would know about that dominant 6th seed run (for the back 2 back), and realize Jordan was in the God damn NBA and lost to the Magic. Time will tell though, Hakeem had Robinsons number and broke him that year and basically until Robinson got Duncan . Don't get me wrong I love Harden but this was a whole nother level that Dream was on, but I think Harden will continue to grow. With Harden heading the franchise I think we're in for a real special ride over the next couple of years.
Like was said, Houston started the season out RED Hot after winning chip, then... After huge winning streak fell apart, injuries/chemistry/the Drexler Trade, then all the sudden towards end of season it started to click. They faultered some, especially down 3-1 on the Suns (and 2-1 on first round 5 game series to Utah) but Crutch City became Clutch City again after the semi-finals and just steamrolled the WCFs and Finals. It was like everything clicked at the right moment especially after the Suns series. Now let's not talk about 96 GD SONICS!!! You really should watch that documentary on NBA TV, from last year or 2, ****ing amazing, especially if you haven't seen it it.
Lol, great response , maybe everyone is getting used to the lax 3-4 steps that today's NBA allows Hakeem's footwork and movement were insane, so amazing to watch. This definitely is legit footwork by him and well within the rules
