According to ABC13, around 200 officers have descended on Ben Taub with reports of an active shooter.
It certainly has never seemed that way any time people I've known have had to deal with that hospital. Perhaps those were flukes.
Latest police reports that no one is injured, but still searching....ABC 13 showed someone live being taken out in handcuffs....still on going
Any hospital emergency room has unbearable waits for normal injuries. Gun shot victims, etc. aren't waiting in the lobby with kids with broken arms or high fevers. Ben Taub is considered an excellent trauma center and even victims with insurance go their quite often.
Ben Taub is an excellent hospital. I had my wisdom teeth pulled there. Went in for a sprained ankle after an incident on the basketball court.
Glad there's not many injuries. Surprised to hear HOU only has two Level I's. They are busy among the busiest, so maybe that explains it.
I'm hearing it was someone who was just frustrated and shot his gun off at the ceiling... No confirmation.
UTMB in Galveston is also a level 1. After the hurricane in 2008, when the hospital was temporarily closed, the Houston trauma centers felt the pinch.... Galveston definitely absorbs most of the trauma south-east of the Beltway.
Apparently nobody. Apparently mistaken reports of gunfire at Houston's Ben Taub Hospital prompt lockdown and tense two-hour search http://www.houstonchronicle.com/new...y-mistaken-reports-of-gunfire-at-10949373.php
