Darrell Russell waived today

That guy used to smoke so much pot when he went to SC.

 

because the texans are trying to create an identity...and they don't want that identity built around players immersed in legal problems. i believe in second chances, big time...but this is a high profile industry we're talking about here. bob mcnair has set some standards he expects players to live to...he's not gonna go out and sign players who already have proven they're not willing to live to those standards. in addition...you don't want to surround a nucleus of very young players with older vets who have been in and out of trouble with the law. not the wisest idea considering the millions these guys are paid at a very young age.

The Texans already have an ex-Raider Defensive Tackle in Junior Ioane (BTW, La'Roi Glover rotted on the Raiders depth chart much like Ioane)

The Raiders took Russell #2 overall when they had really traded up to take Orlando Pace who went #1 to the Rams. Russell had a couple good seasons and made the pro bowl, he started to decline after a while, by the time he was getting into trouble the Raiders Orginization was already looking to get rid of him.

I would hope he has gotten his life back together.
