I got Intel to refund me $167 on a 6 year old motherboard

    Here's how I did it. I called Intel because I could not upgrade my video card to a new card. What I learned was that Intel had stopped selling motherboards around the time that I upgraded mine: 2011, and there had not been a Bios update since 2012.

    I basically told Intel that they should refund me the motherboard amount since I bought their motherboard under the assumption that they would support it (at least a few years), and that they had taken my money and ran with it.

    I didn't actually believe that I was going to get a refund, I just kinda blundered into it. But it was pretty cool that I was able to do this on a board that was so old.

    Bed Bath and Beyond once allowed me to return a broken Keurig coffee maker that I didn't even buy from them.

    Conversely, I failed in my attempt to return some baby clothes to Target that I bought from Macy's.
