Are you really trying to imply Beverley and Conley are basically the same player??

    That's idiotic.

One could write endlessly on this, but one guy is a dude who has been 18/19/20 in PER the last 4 years. The other guy has been 13 or under. 15 PER is an average player.

Sure, maybe you just can't justify paying a Mike Conley $20+ million when he isn't a super top tier guy. But he's a huge and clear improvement.

When you factor in PACE, it's even more obvious. The Grizzlies, obviously, have been near last in pace every year. Per 100 possessions, Conley is a 25 point, 9-10 assist player. Per 100 possessions, Beverley gives you 17 and 6. Conley has higher usage... but that is earned. You wouldn't want Beverely to get to that usage.

I like the idea of pursuing Conley. No clue if it would work, be a great fit, if he would improve in an MDA system or what. But unless you're tanking, you need to improve, and Conley is a top free agent this offseason.

Conley is a better fit for the Spurs than what we are going for.
