I need to create an award for my 7th grade defensive player of the week. Our 8th grade team uses "The Wood" they give a decorated block of wood to the player to carry around with them for the week. I need something original for my team. I thought of using "The Defender" award but I can't find my old Atari 2600 copy of Defender and I am afraid if I order one from Ebay it won't get here in time to use for the majority of the season. Anyone else have any suggestions that are practical and a relatively inexpensive way to create an award? CK
Bonecrusher Award-give the player a plastic dog bone Headhunter award- I don't know about a prize for that one.
rip the heart out of the opposition award and you can present them with a cow's heart in a bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The previous suggestions are all well and good, but when one thinks of iconic football merits, they are immediately swallowed by the realm of Val Kilmer, second tier comic book characters, and the lovable Otzi. Thus, the "Ice-Man" award. If a block of wood wows the kiddies, they will be murdered by their own jealousy towards the mythical Ice Tray.
How about 'the Rock'...if carrying wood works, carrying a rock might work, and it implies defense. Or " the Lunchpail" I don't think anybody uses those old fashioned lunchpails anymore...one of those; implies toughness, hardwork, etc.
Well I was hit with a great idea this morning in of all places the shower. I am giving the Defensive Stopper of the week award. I bought a rubber drain stopper and a chain so the Stopper of the week can wear it on their neck during the school day.
Following the rubber stopper idea, how about a condom for your offensive lineman/Protector of the week?
