Interesting that only 13 cities can claim that title.

    NYC
    LA
    Chicago
    Philly
    Dallas
    Bay Area
    Boston
    D.C
    Detroit
    Phoenix
    Minn/St Paul
    Miami
    Denver

LA joined the group again this year due to the Rams. I would say Boston & the Bay Area have quite successful in this century.

Are you counting the Bay Area as one city?

I'm really confused, too. Hockey is more popular than soccer?

Really wish Houston had a hockey team. Hockey games are so fun to go to in person.

    New Orleans has

    Hookers
    Booze
    Gambling
    Food

    That counts in my book.

Anyone else think it would be cool if Las Vegas would build an NBA stadium and each team gets two "home" games as part of your season ticket package. If you can't go, it's elementary to resale them on flash seats now. So the designated home team owns the seats for that game vs the away team

So not only do you own two games, but anytime you visit Vegas, there would be an NBA game to see

In the US (or at least the North) that's definitely the case. I can name like three MLS teams and non World Cup soccer is never on tv. The NHL has its own network. Might just be a regional thing.

Maybe the thread title should have been,

"Cities that have the four major sports leagues"

While soccer is easily more popular overall than hockey, is MLS more popular than the NHL? One has the best players from all over the world, the other doesn't.

Make it 5 major sports then. Which cities would be on the list then? "Bay Area" would be one.

Better yet, make it which cities have won a championship in all 5 major sports.

Detroit? (if you exclude MLS as a major sport and accept pre 1970 for NFL).

don't think SF has won the Stanley Cup, but I sometimes get them California teams mixed up.

    LA Kings
    LA (Anaheim) Ducks
    LA Dodgers
    LA Angels
    LA Lakers
    LA Clippers
    LA Rams
    LA Chargers/Raiders/Somebody else (circa 2017)

    NY Rangers
    NY Islanders
    NY Knicks
    NY (Brooklyn) Nets
    NY Mets
    NY Yankees
    NY Giants
    NY Jets

Throw in the Chicago White Sox/Cubs... and you can see why its basically NY/LA/Chicago... and everybody else when it comes to "major sports cities". Any time your city has 2 of everything, its an embarrassment of riches.
