(Just out of curiosity) why you choose Houston over any other cities?

My question is, why you choose Houston over any other cities in US to live in? Is it because of its good job, climate, culture, foods etc? What is it the reason you are living in Houston? Personally, the reason I live in Houston is the low cost of living and plenty things to do. I also love foods here.

Family and friends and job. But wish I lived somewhere that was actually pretty.

    Food doesn't suck either

Obviously people live there for the climate.

Grew up here, got a job here. Really I would have gone anywhere that had given me a "good" job after college; just so happened to be a place in Houston.

But I am very open to relocating, at least for a few years. Wife is too. Unfortunately, my type of job is mainly in Houston, Chicago and some NYC, and my wife and I would want to go to a smaller city/town if we left Houston, not a bigger one. So Houston is where I'll be for the foreseeable future.

The concrete, the strip malls, the-I-just-want-to-be-inside-with-the-air-conditioner-full-blast, the lack of trees, and the perfectly level land as far as the eye can see...oh, and the successful professional sports teams.

But seriously, the cheap land, the great-place-to-raise-a-family, the not having to deal with winter, and the delicious unhealthy food.

Personally, I couldn't live in a city where three pointers and shots at the rim aren't priority #1. For that reason, I have made Houston my home.

I haven't really chose a city yet. I live in Dallas for the time being (go ahead and bash, it's fine.) But I grew up in Houston. It was the only city I knew up until 4 months ago. I would imagine cost of living in a major city is probably 90% of the reason. Galveston and Kemah aren't the greatest attractions, but it is water. It is also one of the most diverse cities, so there's that.

I think it's the only place in America where your income doesn't define what you can accomplish. People are friendly and for the most part don't look down to anyone. You could be out and enjoy a drink with a guy making $200k and a guy making $50k without even knowing it. Everyone has access to great food and drinks without having to pay too much.

Houston is the definition of a cultural melting pot. Katy, Kingwood, Woodlands and Sugarlnd need not apply.
