    Love her career choices. Broke mainstream in an her oscar demanding perf for Amelie. Then made a superb transition, in terms of a us audience, with the solid Dirty Pretty Things.

    Why is it that only non-english native speakers use the word "u" instead of "you"? I've noticed a lot of chinese and europeans do the same thing around here.

    I was going to remind you about Prince's early eighties popularization of the word "u", but then I realized that's probably a little before your time.

    I do notice a lot of younger people (of all nationalities) using abbreviations now. I'm guessing it's because of the popularity of communicating via pagers and chat boards -- it's just faster to type short words.

    Not only non-english native speakers. It's common on the Internet, especially when chatting in channels on IRC. I get annoyed when it's used in a somewhat more formal setting like umm... tech support, though.

    "B4 u try that IIRC there's a setting u *may* need to set. FWIW, I don't think it's needed, but let me check to see if I can find the setting. BBIAB.
