My god! you lived in China in 1978 for 9
months! In fact, The reform and opening-up
is just carried out in China at that time.

I recognize an American in our country.
His name is Jackson. He teaches English in a
university. But his major is music and his wife
is a Philippine. He likes to take a Bible to tell
his students which is his source of music creation.

haha, Jackie Lee, I thought you had forgotten
him in your rapid society. We all admire him
    including Jackie Chan.

His Chinese name is Li Xiao Long and comes
    from Hong Kong too.

I was raised in HK, I moved to the states in 89. It's sad over there now, since the economy is in shambles. There is constant bickering between the pro-democracy and the national politicians. I wish they could go back to the way it was in the 90s.

If I say there are hundreds of methods in
cooking chicken in China, do you feel wonderful? :)

Mentioned our foods, I think there are much to
say. Because foods is an important side in our
culture. I know there are many Chinese restaurants
    in America.

OldManBernie. Are you from HK? I know the
present conditions of HK due to My brother-in-law
    is a HK man.
But I think HK is at a beginning of economic
change. It is normal. CEPA, do you know?

I don't know, HK's economy is based on shipping. Due to the expansion of China's port cities, such as Shenzhen and Shanghai, HK has lost a lot of it's business. HK tried to go the high tech route, but it was too late. The economy is in crumbles, and I don't really see a viable economic option for HK to turn to. I think the best days are over in HK.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to imagine for the Chinese Government to allow a full-fledged Las Vegas styled city (Macau doesn't count).

OldManBernie, I think you have a little
pessimism. My brother-in-law is not similar to you,
Though he is overwork now. China other port cities expand is necessary. Thus HK economy must change traditional structure. However, HK is one of the best ports in China. The inborn condition destine HK is one of the most flourishing cities.
In fact, HK has still many superiorities which do not get developed well. For example, finance, education and so on.
CEPA(Closer Economic Partnership Arrangeme) is a new economic policy which
can emphasize relation between HK and mainland in economy.
At present, HK's difficult position is due
to currency board partly. The financial policy
    hinder to regulate HK's economy.

I think I've heard about CEPA, they just initiated that about half a year ago right? I am still rather pessimistic about HK's future. I believe that CEPA will help a little, and maybe the economy will become more diverse. Still, it'll never be the good old days. It's sad how quickly things changed from the mid-90s to after the takeover. I don't think China did anything necessarily bad to HK, in fact, I'm glad that Chinese cities have tried to imitate them and flourished. Still, this is going to be a rough transition, and it'll never be like the mid-90s ever again.
