One game against the Jags and some garbage time duty is not changing my mind about a 30 year old journeyman. No quarterbacks on the roster should return next season, Hoyer included
That's nothing, there was that one poster in the GARM who I believe was averaging I think 60 posts per day for an entire month in the summer.
Here you go being uninformed as usual. I was pulling for Mallett right along with you. I've agreed with you and argued those same things about Hoyer's tenure in Cleveland. I brought up how he couldn't beat out Charlie fraking Batch in Pittsburgh. But since he's been here, he has played solid. Since the benching, he has stayed very humble, positive and professional. When his number was called on again, he came in and perform remarkably well. Upset, LOL man I am far from that. I'm at work chilling and enjoying life.
At this point, I would rule out Mallett but leave the door cracked on Hoyer returning. It depends on who the Texans obtain. The thought of having no QBs familiar with BOB's offense next year is scary, but it might be the way to go if they could get someone like Drew Brees.
Just keep Hoyer until Savage or the long term solution is ready. Which should only be one or two more years. Also give Mallet the boot. Backup QB should be able to get a 70 QBrating minimum
I never did understand why they got rid of R Fitzpatrick. He's just as good as any QB they got now, if not slightly better.
It wasn't a matter of beating out Batch. Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwitch had both gone down with injuries. Hoyer was signed in the middle of November because they needed a 2nd healthy QB and was with the team for a week before the next game. Batch had been on the team for 10 years at that point. He knew the system, he'd played for them, he'd started for them. Of course Batch was going to get the start.
sure in hindsight it was handled poorly and may have cost us a game or two but it settled the question of whether Mallet could be the answer, that's all that matters
Was Hoyer brought in to be the franchise? I think we all knew he's just a place holder until/if we invest in a QB.
Mallet would have put up a 60 QBrating against the Jags. Why does everyone assume anyone can put up a 100 QBrating against bad defenses?
Houston we finally found our franchise QB. Question is what do we spend our #1 draft pick on now? I say RB, OL, or an elite pass catching TE to give Hoyer more weapons.
^^^^^^^ He's also #3 in QBR. Even though he only played one complete game, if you average Hoyer's stats over the 4 games he's played and extrapolate them over a 16 game season, you get: 4,292 yards 32 TD/8 INT 63.4% Completion 103 Passer Rating 79.9 QBR #FranchiseQB
